Crude Oracle does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your privacy is fully respected.
Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your device:
- API keys are stored in the iOS Keychain (encrypted, on-device only)
- User preferences (theme, refresh rate, selected instruments) are stored in local app storage
- Cached market data (prices, news, intelligence module results) is stored on-device and can be cleared at any time from Settings
No data is sent to our servers. We do not operate any servers.
Market Data
Price data is fetched directly from Yahoo Finance on your device. No user information is included in these requests. Yahoo Finance's own privacy policy governs their handling of network requests.
AI Services
If you configure an AI provider (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, or OpenRouter), requests are sent directly from your device to the selected provider's API. Crude Oracle does not route, intercept, or store these requests. Each provider's privacy policy applies to their service.
Apple Intelligence runs entirely on-device — no data leaves your phone.
Third-Party Services
- Yahoo Finance — market price data (no API key required)
- EIA.gov — petroleum inventory data (optional, requires free API key)
- AISstream.io — vessel tracking data (optional, requires API key)
- Formspree — feedback form submissions (voluntary, only when you choose to send feedback)
All third-party requests originate directly from your device. We do not proxy any requests.
Feedback
The in-app feedback form and the website support form use Formspree to deliver your message. Submitting feedback is entirely voluntary. We receive only the message content and category you provide — no device identifiers or personal data are attached.
Analytics & Tracking
Crude Oracle contains no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels, no advertising frameworks, and no crash reporting services. We do not track how you use the app.
Account
No account creation is required. The app has no login, no registration, and no user profiles.
Children's Privacy
Crude Oracle is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
